Avete mai pensato a cosa diranno di noi, coloro che vivranno dopo di noi? Con che occhi ci guarderanno, se studieranno la nostra storia, quanto ci considereranno diversi e arretrati rispetto a loro. Io ci ho pensato la notte scorsa, prima di addormentarmi: ho pensato alle generazioni passate e a quanto sarebbero sembrati strani a loro, questo mondo e queste abitudini che per noi prendono l'appellativo di normalita'. Pensate a quegli uomini che per muoversi usavano una carrozza trainata da cavalli, pensate quanto sarebbe risuonato improbabile per loro la possibilita' di muoversi con una macchina, o ancor piu' con un aereo, e pensate all'acqua corrente, al telefono, e a mille altre invenzioni.
A cosa sareste disposti pur di vivere almeno un giorno nel mondo dei prossimi 200 anni, per scoprire come parlano di noi, come vivono, quali abitudini per noi impensate sono diventate la normalita', quali malattie, causa di morte oggi, sono ormai diventate facili da curare.
Have you ever thought about what people that will live after us, will say about us ? How they will look at us, if they will study our history, if they will consider us different and retarded compared to them. I had this thought last night, before falling asleep: I gave thought to past generations and to how much would have seemed strange to them this world and this habits that for us take the name of normality. Think of those men who made us of a horse-drawn carriage to move, think of how it would be resonated impossible for them the possibility to move with a car, or even more with a plane and think of running water, the phone and a thousand other inventions.
What would you be willing to live at least a day in the world of the next 200 years,to find out how they talk about us, how they live, which habits, unthinkable for us, have become normality, which diseases, cause of death today, have become easy to nurse.
